From Picasso to Richard Wagner

Picasso, Erni, Wagner: resounding names that are as much a part of Lucerne’s museums as the oldest traces of glaciation or the latest trends in transport technology. The BourbakiPanorama is one of the last surviving large-scale circular paintings in the world. In the days before the invention of the cinema this painting caused a sensation. The Rosengart Collection features works of classic modernism and groups of works by Picasso and Klee, as well as paintings by other 19th- and 20th-century artists.

The Glacier Garden is a natural monument where you can see giant potholes dating from the Ice Age 20,000 years ago. Switzerland’s most-visited museum is the Swiss Museum of Transport: here, you will find everything connected with transport, mobility and media technology, as well as a film theatre and the Hans Erni Museum. Other cultural attractions include the Museum of Art, the Nature Museum, the Museum of History, the Richard Wagner Museum and the Alpineum.
